Practical Training Phase
Practical training is an immersive phase of full-time Salesian youth ministry, lasting at least two years. During this period, the young Salesian hones their competencies through active presence, teaching, managing youth groups, and animating the spiritual, recreational, and social lives of the youth at their designated center. This stage is a rigorous test of stamina, practical skills, and dedication to Salesian life. Integration of work and prayer is crucial, alongside practicing Salesian assistance and Don Bosco’s preventive system.
Close guidance is provided by senior Salesians, particularly the Rector, who serves as a mentor and confidant. In certain cases, candidates may pursue secular university studies either before or after practical training. Even during their academic journey, they are expected to maintain active involvement in Salesian ministry, ensuring a seamless balance between professional education and their vocational commitment.
