Novitiate and Post-novitiate Formation
The Novitiate and Post-novitiate phases for Kenyan Salesian candidates are currently hosted in Tanzania. The Novitiate, lasting one full year, is dedicated to spiritual formation and personal contemplation. Candidates deepen their understanding of the Salesian charism while also engaging in intellectual growth, ministry, recreation, and community life. By the end of this phase, they formally request admission to the Salesian vows. Upon approval, they profess the three vows of obedience, poverty, and chastity, marking their official commitment to Salesian life.
The Post-novitiate spans three years, focusing on intellectual and practical formation. Candidates study philosophy and social sciences critical for effective youth ministry while continuing to integrate the spiritual experiences of the novitiate. The program prioritizes developing intellectual and practical skills for Salesian life, preparing candidates for their future roles in education and ministry.
