St. John Bosco Parish, Makuyu
Established on January 1, 1989, St. John Bosco Parish in Makuyu is a vibrant parish in Murang’a Diocese. It originated from the outstation of Saba Saba Parish, under the pioneering efforts of Fr. Felice Molino and Fr. Luigi Abbate. With the Salesian charism at its core, the parish has flourished as a hub for pastoral care, community engagement, and youth empowerment. The parish’s development includes the creation of a Technical Training Centre funded by Misereor in 1989, offering skills to local youth.
The parish actively serves the spiritual and social needs of its community through its prayer houses. It also runs a primary school, and a dispensary and secondary school (both belonging to the Salesian Sisters) and engages in numerous social initiatives especially in the area of agriculture, guided by the Salesian ethos of fostering holistic development.
